• 「認識」の他に、「仕事などが認められる」という意味がある。

• なぜか「崩壊」という誤った訳を覚えていた。多分collapse(崩壊する)と混同していたのが原因

Anecdotal evidence = 事例証拠

Anecdotal evidence は 事例証拠という意味。少ないサンプルに基づいた、信頼性の低い証拠という感じの意味らしい。

例えば、「あの人は毎日酒ばかり飲んでいるが長生きしている」といった証拠が事例証拠にあたる。

fine line = 紙一重

○○と××は紙一重、というのを表すときにfine lineという言葉を使う。fineは「素晴らしい」ではなく「細い」の語義。

malformed = 奇形の

プログラミングで頻出。例：

• Malformed UTF-8 character
• malformed header from script

coerce = 型強制する

プログラミングの世界で、ある型を強制的に別の型に変換することを型強制するという。coerceは「型強制する」という動詞。名詞化するとcoercion。

例：Native datatypes - Dive Into Python 3

Python coerces the int into a float to perform the addition, then returns a float as the result.
